Handbook
"Together We Rise · Together We Lead · Together We Become Unreal"
Welcome to UGS
Welcome to Unreal Gaming Syndicate. You are no longer just another player in a random Discord server. You have joined a structured gaming community deliberately built around friendship, leadership, competition, creativity, and personal development. UGS exists to help members build lasting relationships, strengthen communication skills, develop confidence, and become dependable teammates and leaders.
Every member contributes to the culture of the Syndicate. The way we communicate, compete, resolve conflict, and support one another determines the kind of community we become. Rank, title, and badge mean nothing if the person behind them does not uphold the standards in this handbook.
Unreal Gaming Syndicate exists to create an inclusive, disciplined, and supportive gaming community focused on leadership development, competitive excellence, personal growth, community engagement, and mentorship. We build more than gamers — we build leaders, creators, and lifelong teammates.
Centered on excellence, innovation, and community impact in Appalachia and beyond. We aim to make Eastern Kentucky and the broader Southern gaming culture a recognized hub for structured competitive play and positive community infrastructure. Systems over noise. UGS is the standard.
"Together We Rise · Together We Lead · Together We Become Unreal"
— UGS Motto · 2026–2027
UGS believes that successful gaming communities are built through consistent improvement. Members should always look for ways to improve their attitude and conduct, their communication skills, their performance as teammates, their ability to lead and mentor others, their involvement within the community, and the experience they create for other members. Progress does not require perfection. It requires effort, accountability, and a willingness to learn.
- ▸Every gamer deserves respect.
- ▸No member should be intentionally left behind.
These commitments apply during games, meetings, events, competitions, Discord conversations, social-media interactions, and every other activity connected to UGS.
History & Legacy
Unreal Gaming Syndicate did not appear from nowhere. It is the current expression of more than fifteen years of community-building experience rooted in Appalachia and driven by a single founder's long-term vision.
Divisions & The Squad Structure
Unreal Gaming Syndicate is organized into divisions, squads, departments, competitive teams, and community-wide leadership groups. This structure exists so that every member has a clear home, clear leadership, and clear paths for growth.
Membership Expectations
Crowns & The Outlands Ledger
"Crowns are not participation trophies. They are your Genetic Archive — immutable proof of your evolution inside the Syndicate."
The Crowns system is Unreal Gaming Syndicate's automated meritocratic ledger. It replaces subjective human opinion with a multi-path data pipeline that tracks every member's contributions across distinct Crown categories. Rank is earned by action, verified by system or staff, and protected by design.
The number 6 is not decoration. It is a living framework that every member is expected to internalize. These six pillars define what it means to be Unreal. They guide daily decisions, leadership choices, and how we treat one another.
We rise together or we do not rise. Individual skill matters, but the Syndicate's power comes from coordinated effort, mutual support, and the refusal to leave teammates behind. A strong member makes the whole stronger.
We compete to improve, not merely to win. Excellence means preparation, sportsmanship, continuous learning, and holding ourselves to a higher standard than the average lobby. The Crown system exists because we believe in measurable excellence.
Loyalty is shown through consistent presence, honest communication, protection of community assets and reputation, and choosing UGS standards even when no one is watching. Loyalty is not blind obedience — it is committed partnership.
Discipline is the ability to control one's words, actions, and reactions under pressure. Rank and title mean nothing without the discipline to use them responsibly. We address problems privately and recognize people publicly.
We do not settle for "the way it has always been done." New formats, better systems, creative content, and smarter processes are welcomed and rewarded. Stagnation is the enemy of an Unreal community.
Setbacks, conflict, personal hardship, and competitive losses are inevitable. Resilience is the refusal to quit, the ability to learn from failure, and the choice to keep building.
These six pillars are not slogans. They are evaluation criteria for promotions, leadership selection, and how members are expected to carry themselves every day.
Code of Conduct
Organizational Structure
UGS operates with a clear chain of command so that decisions can be made efficiently, accountability is maintained, and members always know who to go to for guidance or resolution.
Rank Structure
UGS uses a structured rank system to create accountability and provide members with a clear, visible path toward leadership and recognition. Ranks are earned through demonstrated readiness, not popularity or time alone.
Every UGS rank carries a written description, entry requirements, defined duties, and a clear reporting line. Select any rank below to read exactly what is expected before and after the promotion. Nothing here is a mystery — if you meet it, you earn it.
Unlimited Lieutenants & Captains. Unlike traditional clan structures, UGS places no cap on the number of Lieutenants or Captains a squad may hold. Leadership at those ranks is earned through performance and mentorship — never rationed by an open slot. If you meet the standard, the rank is yours; you are never blocked because someone else already holds the title.
Mentorship is the defining duty of the Corporal rank. Corporals are the bridge between brand-new Recruits and the rest of the Syndicate — close enough to remember being new, trusted enough to set the example.
Corporals assist in greeting and welcoming every new Recruit as they arrive. A new member's first impression of the Syndicate is usually a Corporal, not an officer.
Help new members find their way around the Discord community — which channels matter, where announcements live, how to reach their squad, and who to ask for help.
Mentor Recruits who are interested in advancing. Explain what the Recruit → Private step actually requires: consistent activity, completed orientation, a clean conduct record, and understanding of UGS standards.
Encourage new Recruits and Privates to actually show up — game nights, social events, workshops, and Crown activities. Active new members stay; ignored new members leave.
Why it matters: This level of mentoring gives Corporals the responsibility they want without handing them authority that is too big for the rank. It is also how leadership identifies who is genuinely on track for Sergeant. Corporals who consistently welcome, guide, and develop newer members earn that promotion — those who do not, naturally weed themselves out.
Exact intermediate ranks and titles may be adjusted by leadership as the organization grows. What does not change is the principle: higher rank equals higher responsibility and higher expected standards of conduct.
Promotion System
Divisions
Shadow Forge

Shadow Forge is the primary active division of Unreal Gaming Syndicate following the 2026 restructure. It carries the full competitive identity and cultural standard of UGS. Members of Shadow Forge are expected to embody the Six Pillars at a high level, maintain strong activity, support one another under pressure, and treat the division as a long-term commitment rather than a temporary lobby.
Shadow Forge prioritizes competitive excellence, structured training, Crown Championship participation, and the development of leaders who can eventually take on squad, department, or higher responsibilities. The division exists to create an environment where serious gamers can grow without the chaos of unstructured communities.
- ▸Consistent participation in squad and division activities
- ▸Willingness to compete and improve
- ▸Support for newer members and the mentorship culture
- ▸Protection of the division's and the Syndicate's reputation
- ▸Adherence to all UGS standards without exception
Additional specialized or experimental divisions may be authorized by executive leadership in the future if growth and operational capacity support them. Until that time, Shadow Forge is the home of the Syndicate.
Departments
Departments are specialized operational teams that support the entire Syndicate. They allow members with particular skills or interests to contribute at a higher level without abandoning their squad responsibilities.
Sponsors & Partners
Unreal Gaming Syndicate and Very Unreal, LLC value relationships with organizations that share a commitment to quality, community, and long-term growth. Partnerships may take the form of product support, event collaboration, media opportunities, or strategic alliances.
- ▸All formal partnerships are authorized by executive leadership only.
- ▸Members may not commit UGS to any external relationship, endorsement, or obligation.
- ▸Branding and logo usage with partners follows strict guidelines maintained by the Art department.
- ▸Members who interact with partners are expected to represent UGS with professionalism and integrity.
UGS and its predecessor organizations have built relationships across the gaming industry and regional ecosystem. Specific active partners, sponsors, and collaborators are announced through official channels and may change over time. Members are expected to treat all partner representatives with respect and to avoid any public conduct that could damage those relationships.

Technology and innovation partner supporting enterprise standards, cloud solutions, and growth initiatives.

Community development partner focused on leadership development, workforce readiness, and regional advancement in Appalachia.

Official energy and performance partner supporting the gaming community and competitive teams.
Accountability & Corrective Action
Additional Policies & Final Commitment
UGS maintains (or may develop) separate detailed policies addressing activity expectations, squad and division transfers, department participation, confidential information, internal investigations, appeals and hearings, diplomatic relationships, disciplinary procedures, Discord participation, equal gaming opportunities, squad growth and restructuring, violence prevention, harassment and intimidation, impersonation, leadership development, leaves of absence, membership reinstatement, open-door communication, promotions and testing, real-life responsibilities, relationship conflicts, social-media conduct, organizational neutrality, crisis and suicide-response procedures, member training, competitive-team conduct, recognition programs, the 7/VII distinction, and department awards and honors.
Being part of Unreal Gaming Syndicate means more than displaying a role, rank, badge, or title. It means choosing to:
"Together We Rise · Together We Lead · Together We Become Unreal"
UGS Uniform Policy
UGS Uniform Policy
All members must represent Unreal Gaming Syndicate through the official Discord Guild Tag, their Discord bio uniform, and UGS game tags wherever supported. Leadership follows these requirements too. The game-tag requirement is an addition; existing Discord tag and bio formatting requirements remain in force.
UGS Discord Guild Tag — Required
Equip and display the official UGS Discord Server Guild Tag on your Discord profile. Select the UGS server's tag in Discord's profile settings; typing UGS into a nickname is not a substitute for equipping the official Guild Tag.
Members are not required to put UGS in their Discord username or display name. Keep your preferred name; the official UGS Guild Tag and your bio uniform identify your membership.
UGS Discord Bio Uniform — Required
Keep your Discord bio in the established uniform, reflecting your current squad, division, and rank.
Recruit through General:
UGS [Squad Name] [Division Initial] [Rank Abbreviation]
Example: UGS Cataclysm SF CPL.
A General keeps their squad in the bio uniform too.
Every rank above General:
UGS [Division Initial] [Rank]
Examples: UGS SF DIV LEADER or UGS SF CO-FOUNDER.
Ranks above General omit the squad entirely. Use your authorized current rank designation; these examples do not confer a title or rank.
Shadow Forge's division initial is SF. UGS and division/rank abbreviations are uppercase. Update the bio when your squad, division, or rank changes. The bio uniform and correct tag remain part of the Private rank requirements; this policy does not alter promotion requirements or grant permission to use the 6IX designation.
UGS Game Tags — Required Wherever Supported
In any game that supports a Clan Tag, Guild Tag, Service Tag, or equivalent tag field, members are required to place UGS in that tag and display it while representing the Syndicate.
- Halo: Place UGS in the Service Tag when that Halo title supports it.
- Call of Duty: Place UGS in the Clan Tag when that title supports it.
- Other games: Place UGS in the available Clan Tag, Guild Tag, Service Tag, or equivalent supported field.
- Discord: Equip the official UGS Guild Tag as described above.
Use uppercase UGS. This applies across supported games, not only Halo and Call of Duty. A game without a supported tag field does not require an invented substitute or a username/gamertag change. If a platform restriction prevents equipping UGS, contact leadership for help rather than silently disregarding the requirement.
Uniform Checklist and Member Support
- Official UGS Discord Guild Tag equipped.
- Discord bio matches your current squad/division/rank format, including the existing above-General exception.
- UGS entered into each supported game's Clan Tag, Guild Tag, Service Tag, or equivalent tag field.
Squad leadership helps members identify their correct bio format and resolve tag-setting issues. Leaders should explain all three requirements clearly and apply existing standards consistently. Questions or technical barriers should be brought to leadership. Existing conduct and accountability procedures remain unchanged.
Brand Identity & Growth
Adapted from UGS Taurus 6's strategy as Chief Brand Officer: a shared direction for how we welcome, support, and represent our community. The Uniform Policy and Six Pillars remain our governing standards.
Our Brand Promise
Unreal Gaming Syndicate is an 18+ gaming community rooted in Appalachia: a place to find your people, play your games, and help build the community. Casual players, competitors, creators, and future leaders can build friendships, contribute, and grow here. Good people. Good gaming.
Our website is our digital headquarters; Discord is our day-to-day community home. Forums, gaming divisions and squads, events, competition, media, recognition, recruitment, and leadership pathways form the foundation. Their existence is not proof of performance: current use and results must be established through an audit.
A newcomer should quickly understand what UGS is, what makes us different, where they fit, and why they would join and stay. Our north star is: Would I be proud to represent this?
Existing Standards Remain in Force
This strategy supplements the Member Handbook. The current uniform policy is unchanged. All existing tag, gamertag, bio, squad, division, rank-formatting, and leadership-exception requirements continue to apply exactly as written. Pride in wearing the UGS tag does not make required uniform standards optional, create new naming rules, or grant permission to use the 6IX designation.
The existing Six Pillars remain UGS's governing values and promotion framework. The five brand themes below are communication and member-experience priorities, not a replacement for the Six Pillars. Current rank requirements, conduct rules, activity expectations, recognition eligibility, and approval authority remain intact.
Five Brand Themes — One Shared Identity
- Community: People feel connected, have a squad to call home, and can find teammates and support.
- Competition: Members have something to play for, with fair competition and opportunities across skill levels.
- Culture: Fun, friendship, respect, and accountability make UGS an environment people enjoy.
- Identity: The UGS tag represents good people, good gaming, professionalism, and belonging, under the existing uniform policy.
- Growth: Members can contribute through leadership, content, events, competition, and community work, with development and recognition earned under current standards.
These themes translate the Six Pillars into an understandable invitation and a consistent lived experience; they do not add or remove a pillar.
One Organization, One Recognizable Brand
Website, Discord, X and other social media, Xbox, YouTube, recruitment, events, graphics, merchandise, and community communications should feel like the same organization. Use approved UGS logos, colors, typography, graphics, naming, and quality standards. The official Brand Kit remains the asset source. The presentation's red mockups and illustrative logos are concepts, not replacements for UGS's current visual identity.
Our voice is welcoming, clear, confident, respectful, and human. Explain opportunities in plain language; keep humor friendly and professional communication personable. Show why people want to be here alongside what UGS offers. Avoid exaggeration, empty recruitment promises, public arguments, and unauthorized organizational statements.
Recruitment and the Member Journey
Recruitment is a brand experience, not just a roster transaction. The invitation is: Come see what we're building. Preserve the current application, Discord onboarding, eligibility, and uniform requirements while making each handoff understandable.
- Discover: Use clear messaging and recognizable approved graphics so prospective members understand UGS and their possible place in it.
- Apply: Explain the existing process simply, communicate as people, and help applicants find the correct next step rather than leaving them guessing.
- Arrive: Recruitment and squad leaders coordinate a personal welcome, introduce the member to their game and squad, identify who can help, and invite them to a first gaming session.
- Belong: Follow up during the first week, ask how they are settling in, and help them find a meaningful way to participate. Corporals and mentors support this within their existing duties.
The full journey is: sees UGS → gets curious → visits the website → joins Discord → meets people → plays games → becomes a member through the existing process → gets involved → represents UGS → invites someone else. This describes the experience, not a new admission sequence or exemption from requirements. Every handoff matters; respectful recruitment and anti-poaching rules still apply.
Member Experience and Community Culture
Members are the brand. Build friendships through gaming together, regular activities, fair competition, personal recognition, and clear ways to contribute. Give people reasons to participate as well as reasons to remain a member.
Fun + community + competition + accountability should reinforce one another. Ranks, activity checks, and rules support member safety and experience; they are not substitutes for conversation, inclusion, and actual gaming. Resolve friction early through existing leadership and reporting channels so politics and drama do not become the experience. This guidance does not relax conduct rules or discipline procedures.
Leadership Sets the Tone
Every leader represents UGS in a lobby, a message, a difficult conversation, and the promises they keep. Model accountability, communication, respect, consistency, transparency, professionalism, and personality. Be visible and approachable, explain decisions appropriately without exposing confidential information, apply standards fairly, own mistakes, and follow through.
Recognize people publicly and address problems respectfully and privately. Credit the people who did the work. The Chief Brand Officer coordinates the shared brand direction; channel owners and department leaders deliver their areas of work, with the Founder and leadership approving shared direction under the existing chain of command.
Content That Shows Life Inside UGS
Recruitment belongs in the content mix; it should not be the entire feed. Content Creation and Art coordinate recurring series and a realistic content calendar that members can contribute to:
- People: Member spotlights, leadership spotlights, achievements, and the people behind contributions.
- Play: Gaming highlights, funny moments, competition, and good sportsmanship.
- Community: Community stories, UGS history, upcoming activities, event recaps, and shared milestones.
Tell real stories rather than publishing only announcements. Use approved assets, credit contributors, and respect privacy, consent, confidentiality, and existing publishing permissions. Recognition should be personal and evidence-based; this strategy does not create automatic awards or change reward criteria.
Competition and Events Across Skill Levels
Activity / Events, Competitive Esports, and division and squad leaders should coordinate opportunities for game nights, tournaments, internal and division competitions, leaderboards, challenges, seasonal events, and community championships. Balance competitive ambition with welcoming ways for newer and casual players to take part.
Create memorable moments, publish clear participation instructions and rules, identify hosts, and celebrate the participants and results. Use existing event approval, scheduling, attendance, and reward processes. Proposed formats must be approved and scheduled before being advertised as available.
Partnerships Built on Evidence
Seek partners who add genuine value to members: gaming and hardware companies, creators and streamers, esports organizations, gaming stores, and local businesses. These are potential partner categories, not claims of existing partnerships.
Before a pitch, prepare a partnership package covering who UGS is, who it reaches, verified community size and engagement, social reach and website traffic, partnership options, deliverables, and benefits for both partners and members. Record the source and reporting period of every claim. Build the evidence and offer before making promises. Only authorized executive leadership may approve partnerships or commit UGS to obligations.
Reputation and Public Trust
- Keep our word: Set realistic expectations and deliver what we promise.
- Treat people fairly: Show respect and apply standards consistently.
- Handle problems well: Communicate professionally, own mistakes, and follow through using established channels.
- Celebrate success: Credit the people involved and make genuine progress visible.
Credibility comes from how UGS acts, not just how it looks. Public messaging must not claim unmeasured growth, unsupported reach, or outcomes that have not happened.
Brand Health — Baselines Before Targets
The brand-health reporting plan covers: website visitors, applications, application conversion, Discord joins, new-member retention, active members, event participation, social engagement, content performance, returning visitors, member satisfaction, and partnership inquiries.
Baseline required for every metric. Before setting targets, the Chief Brand Officer coordinates a written definition, accountable owner, reliable source, and reporting period with the relevant channel owner. Define conversion denominators, retention cohorts and time windows, and what counts as active participation so reports remain comparable. Use actual records, approved analytics, and member feedback; mark unavailable measurements as unavailable, never as zero or assumed success.
This is a reporting framework, not a claim that a live dashboard or every measurement is already available. Review the baseline before approving numerical targets or claiming improvement.
First 30 Days — Foundation Roadmap
The following is an implementation roadmap, not a record of completed work. Timing begins when leadership approves the rollout.
- Week 1 — Understand the baseline: Conduct a full brand audit, review website messaging, and review the Discord welcome and member experience.
- Week 2 — Agree the standards: Define and approve the brand voice, standardize use of existing visual identity, and define brand-health metrics and owners.
- Week 3 — Improve the invitation: Review recruitment presentation and the social content strategy, prioritizing clarity and a usable mobile recruitment path without bypassing membership requirements.
- Week 4 — Start the rhythm: Establish an achievable content calendar and recurring member spotlights using existing publishing and recognition processes.
The Chief Brand Officer coordinates; channel owners deliver; the Founder and leadership approve the shared direction. Work should improve the existing foundation rather than discard functioning systems.
90-Day Review and Long-Term Vision
- Days 1–30 — Clearer identity: Seek approved voice and visuals, a baseline reporting dashboard or report, and prioritized member-journey improvements.
- Days 31–60 — More connected experience: Work toward approved website and recruitment updates, Discord welcome improvements, and a reliable rhythm of content and recognition.
- Days 61–90 — Ready to grow: Review consistency of social presence, conduct the first performance review, and prepare evidence-backed partnership materials.
These are desired outcomes to review against the baseline, not guaranteed achievements or automatic policy changes. Record what shipped, what members experienced, what the evidence shows, and what still needs work.
UGS aims to be more than a clan, server, or website: a recognizable gaming community where people make friends, compete, contribute, and grow, and where the tag means something. Preserve what made gaming communities special, build for today's gamer, and create something worth representing tomorrow.

Recruiting Guide
UGS Recruiting Guide · Recruiter Key Points & Conversation Flow · 2026–2027
The UGS Recruiter’s Golden Rule
Recruitment isn’t about convincing someone to join. It’s about helping someone understand UGS well enough to decide whether UGS is the right community for them.
Recruiting Flow
DISCOVER → CONVERSATION → LEARN ABOUT THEM → EXPLAIN UGS → EXPLAIN EXPECTATIONS → ANSWER QUESTIONS → APPLICATION / ONBOARDING → WELCOME → CONNECT THEM WITH THEIR SQUAD
1. Start the Conversation
Are you 18 or older?
UGS is an 18+ gaming community. If they are under 18, they are not eligible for membership.
Have you ever been part of a gaming community or clan before?
This is a good way to understand their experience. Ask:
Have you ever been part of a gaming community or clan before? If so, what did you like or dislike about it?
This isn’t just about recruiting them. It helps us understand what they’re looking for.
How did you hear about UGS?
Ask: “How did you hear about UGS?” or “What made you interested in checking us out?” If they already know about UGS, ask: “What do you know about UGS so far?”
2. Learn About the Gamer
What games do you play?
Ask what they currently play and what they enjoy. UGS isn’t about forcing someone into a particular game. Help people find their people, play their games, and become part of the community.
- “What games are you mainly playing right now?”
- “Are you more into competitive gaming, casual gaming, or a little bit of both?”
- “Are there any games you’re looking forward to playing?”
Do you have any other gamertags or usernames?
If yes, document them according to the current recruitment process. This helps leadership understand how the member may be known across different platforms.
Are you the only person using this account/gamertag?
If multiple people use the same account or gamertag, explain:
Your account and the way it’s used can affect your membership. Everyone using your account needs to follow UGS standards and the Code of Conduct.
Members are responsible for protecting their account and ensuring their use of UGS platforms and branding complies with UGS requirements.
3. Explain What UGS Is
UGS elevator pitch
Suggested recruiter wording:
UGS is an 18+ gaming community built around friendship, competition, leadership, creativity, and personal growth. We’re not just a Discord server where people jump in and play games. We have an actual structure with squads, leadership, departments, events, competitive opportunities, mentorship, and ways for members to contribute.
Then:
The idea is pretty simple: find your people, play your games, and help build the community.
UGS is rooted in Appalachia, with a long-term goal of building a strong gaming and creator community that can grow beyond the region.
4. Explain UGS’s History
Keep this part relatively short:
UGS was established in 2026, but the community’s leadership has a much longer history in gaming communities. The founder previously built Xiled Gaming Network, which grew into a large global gaming community. UGS takes the lessons from that experience and is building something new around structure, leadership, competition, and community.
For more information, direct them to the official UGS Member Handbook.
5. Explain the Current Division Structure
UGS currently has one active division: Shadow Forge.
“Pressure. Discipline. Loyalty.”
Right now, Shadow Forge is UGS’s primary active division. It’s the home of the Syndicate and carries the competitive and cultural identity of UGS.
Shadow Forge focuses on:
- Competitive excellence
- Structured training
- Crown Championship participation
- Leadership development
- Mentorship
- Strong member activity
- Community culture
UGS may establish additional divisions in the future as the organization grows. Do not present a future or former division as a current placement option.
6. Explain Squads
The member’s home
Your squad is basically your home inside UGS. That’s where you’ll get to know people, play games, participate in activities, meet leadership, and build relationships.
Squads can provide:
- Game nights
- Social activities
- Workshops
- Training
- Mentorship
- Promotion opportunities
- Competitive opportunities
- Community activities
You’re part of your squad, but you’re also part of the larger UGS community. You’re encouraged to interact with everyone.
7. Explain the Eight Departments
Current departments:
- Activity / Events
- Art
- Competitive Esports
- Community Resources
- Recruitment
- Education / Knowledge
- Technology / Administration
- Content Creation
Departments are another way members can contribute beyond their squad. If you’re interested in things like events, art, esports, recruitment, education, technology, or content creation, there are opportunities to get involved.
Department membership doesn’t replace squad responsibilities unless leadership specifically authorizes it.
8. Explain the Six Pillars
- Strength Through Unity — We support one another and don’t intentionally leave teammates behind.
- Excellence in Competition — We compete to improve while maintaining preparation, sportsmanship, and continuous learning.
- Loyalty to the Syndicate — We protect the community, communicate honestly, and represent UGS responsibly.
- Discipline in Conduct — We control how we communicate and behave, especially under pressure.
- Innovation in Play & Community — UGS encourages new ideas, better systems, creative content, and improvement.
- Resilience in Adversity — We learn from setbacks and continue building.
These aren’t just words in the handbook. The Six Pillars are part of how UGS evaluates members and leadership.
9. Explain the Code of Conduct
UGS has a Code of Conduct that applies to everybody, regardless of rank or position. We want people to have fun, joke around, compete, and be themselves, but there’s a line when behavior starts hurting other people or the community.
Major prohibited conduct includes:
- Harassment
- Bullying
- Discrimination
- Hate speech
- Doxxing
- Stalking
- Intimidation
- Sexual exploitation or unwanted sexual behavior
- Credible threats
- Cheating
- Hacking
- Account theft
- Fraud
- Unauthorized software manipulation
- Public attacks while representing UGS
- Unauthorized use of UGS property
- Poaching members through pressure or deception
- Serious misuse of confidential information
Important: this recruiting summary is not a replacement for the official policy. Do not paraphrase a policy if the recruitment process requires the official Code of Conduct to be presented verbatim. Have the recruit review the official Code of Conduct, then ask:
Do you have any questions about anything you’ve read, or is there anything you’d like me to clarify?
10. Explain the Rank Structure
UGS isn’t a community where someone automatically gets a leadership position because they’ve been around for a certain amount of time.
UGS has a structured rank system. Rank is earned through demonstrated readiness, activity, conduct, leadership, communication, mentorship, and contribution.
Recruit → Private → Corporal → Sergeant → Staff Sergeant → Lieutenant and higher
Higher-level requirements can include interviews, written assessments, policy tests, workshops, trial responsibilities, leadership reviews, and performance evaluations.
Don’t tell a recruit: “You’ll be Sergeant after X days.” Instead:
There are minimum eligibility periods for promotions, but meeting the time requirement doesn’t guarantee a promotion. Leadership evaluates your activity, conduct, readiness, and overall contribution.
11. Explain the Recruit → Private Process
Minimum eligibility is approximately one week of consistent activity + completed orientation + a clean conduct record.
That’s the minimum eligibility window, not an automatic promotion.
Refer to the current promotion standards and Uniform Policy; this conversation does not waive existing requirements.
12. Explain Crowns
UGS also has a Crown system that tracks contributions to the community. Things like hosting activities, streaming UGS content, competing, completing training, and other recognized contributions can be recorded.
The system tracks contributions across different Crown categories.
The idea is that contribution shouldn’t just disappear into the void. There’s a system that recognizes what members actually do.
Show them Crowns without promising unearned rewards or automatic leadership promotions.
13. Explain Community Activities
UGS isn’t supposed to be Join Discord → sit in voice → disappear.
Members can participate in:
- Game Nights — Organized gaming sessions.
- Social Events — Watch parties, trivia, discussions, music, party games, and more.
- Workshops — Leadership, recruitment, conflict resolution, safety, competitive improvement, content creation, and other educational topics.
You don’t have to be the best gamer in the lobby. Being involved and being a good teammate matters too.
14. Explain the Member Expectation
We’re looking for people who have a good attitude, respect other people, communicate, participate, and want to be part of something rather than just using the Discord as a place to find random teammates.
Two Fundamental Commitments
- Every gamer deserves respect.
- No member should be intentionally left behind.
15. Explain the Discord
The official UGS Discord is the central hub for the community. That’s where you’ll find announcements, communication, events, leadership, membership information, and community activity.
Discord participation matters because it’s the primary communication platform for UGS. Help them find the official Discord and the right announcement and squad channels.
16. Explain Representing UGS
When you’re publicly representing UGS, you’re representing more than yourself. That doesn’t mean you can’t have a personality or have fun. It means you should use good judgment when you’re representing the organization.
UGS members are expected to avoid:
- Starting public conflicts on behalf of UGS
- Making unauthorized organizational statements
- Misrepresenting leadership decisions
- Using UGS branding for harmful or illegal activity
- Publicly attacking members, partners, or other communities
17. Ask the Recruit What They Want
Bring them into the conversation instead of just talking at them.
What are you actually looking for in a gaming community?
Then:
Are you mainly here to find people to game with, compete, meet people, get involved in leadership, create content, or some combination?
Use their answers to connect them with the right opportunities.
18. Answer Questions
Always ask:
What questions do you have about UGS?
Don’t rush this. If you don’t know, don’t make something up. Say:
I’m not 100% sure on that, so let me get you the correct answer from leadership.
That’s much better than giving a recruit incorrect information.
19. Next Steps
Once they’re ready to continue, walk them through the current official UGS recruitment/application process. Don’t create unofficial requirements.
Make sure they understand:
- Where to apply
- How to join the Discord
- What orientation involves
- Their squad placement
- Who their immediate leadership is
- Where announcements are located
- How to get involved
- Where to find the handbook
- Who they can contact with questions
Introduce them to their assigned squad and immediate leadership rather than leaving them to figure it out alone.
20. The Welcome
Once officially accepted:
Welcome to Unreal Gaming Syndicate.
Personalize it:
You’ve got your squad, you’ve got people here you can game with, and you’ve got plenty of ways to get involved. Don’t just sit in the Discord — jump into something, meet people, and make yourself at home.
Recruitment isn’t about convincing someone to join. It’s about helping someone understand UGS well enough to decide whether UGS is the right community for them.
That fits the UGS handbook and brand strategy: “Come see what we’re building.” You’re showing them what UGS is, what it expects, what it offers, and where they fit.
Final Recruiting Flow
DISCOVER → CONVERSATION → LEARN ABOUT THEM → EXPLAIN UGS → EXPLAIN EXPECTATIONS → ANSWER QUESTIONS → APPLICATION / ONBOARDING → WELCOME → CONNECT THEM WITH THEIR SQUAD
